You Can Have a Personal Relationship With Jesus.

You can have a relationship with Jesus and know that you have eternal life.  If your wondering how,

Jesus said  “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life”. John 3:16

It is very simple to become a follower of Jesus:

  • Admit that you are a sinner – this means that you have broken God’s Law, broken one of the 10 Commandments or any of the other commandments that God commanded in His Law which can be found in the Bible in Exodus 20.  It says in the book of Romans that “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23.  We need to recognize that we have broken God’s law and so we deserve the consequences of that action.  Scripture also says in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.  This says that what we deserve for our sin is death but God gave us a free gift of eternal life through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

  • Repent from your sin – repentance is a long word for turning away from.  We need to be willing to stop sinning or doing what we think is right and acknowledge that God’s way is right.  When we repent we humble ourselves which is not easy but essential to a have eternal life.

  • Receive the free gift of salvation – Jesus paid the price for your sin and mine.  We are not able to keep God’s law perfectly so we needed someone to do it for us.  Jesus although God became one of us(humans) for the purpose of taking the punishment that we deserve for our sins. Romans 5:8 says “ But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  So how do we receive this free gift?  Ephesians 2:8-9 says “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast.”  Grace means “unmerited favor” or God giving us something good even though we deserve something bad.  We receive this free gift through faith or simply trusting in the work of Jesus on the cross to make us right with God and to pay for all of our sins.  This is a decision we make with our heart and our mouth.  Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  • If you are ready to receive this free gift of salvation pray this short prayer with me now:

    • Dear Father God, I admit that I have broken your laws and have sinned against you and against others,  I repent from that sin and I desire to live in a new way.  I also acknowledge that there is nothing I can do to pay for my own sin.  I trust in the work of Jesus Christ and that His sacrifice and blood that was shed on the cross fully pays for and removes my sin.  I believe that he died for my sin was buried and rose again from the dead.  I accept the free gift of salvation by God’s grace and I trust in God’s promises of His Spirit and eternal life.  Thank you Father for sending your Son Jesus to save me and for including me in your family.  Amen

  • If you prayed that prayer for the first time please call our office 530-877-3532 and let us know and our pastor or one of our elders will call you back.  God bless you and welcome to the Family of God

  • You need to get to know Jesus – Now that you have received the free gift of salvation you will need to get to know Jesus better.  This is Done through:

    • prayer(talking and listening  to God),

    • reading His Word(the Bible) and

    • fellowshipping with other believers(church or Bible Study).

    • This also involves learning new godly habits and asking the Lord to help you stop sinful habits.  There is a lot of prayer and humbling and surrender to God that needs to happen.  Don’t be discouraged because God is patient and He doesn’t give up on the good work that he has began in you (Phil 1:6).

    • You also have a very important ally called the Holy Spirit that came to dwell in you when you received that free gift.  In fact the Holy Spirit is part of that gift and he is part of God living in you(I know it’s incredible)   2 Corinthians 1:22 (HCSB)  He has also sealed us and given us the Spirit as a down payment in our hearts.
