Thoughts From Pastor Sam
8) Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! 9 Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.
Psalms 34:8-9 (NKJV)
This verse invites us to taste, to try out the Lord to experience the Lord. If we do that we are assured that He is good. I’ve had people tell me before that they have “tried” Jesus and it didn’t help them. This statement starts out with a false premise they “tried” not tasted. They tried to use Jesus to help them with their problems instead of releasing their problems to taste Jesus. In the former the problems are the focus and in the latter Jesus is the focus. Notice the next part of verse 8, “Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”. If we are tasting we are trusting and if we are trusting Jesus we can release control to Him and we are blessed with His presence and all the good stuff (precious promises) that come with His presence. If we fear and honor Him we will not fear the devil, other people, trials, temptations not even death itself and we will lack no good thing.
Glen and Rita Chapman - Rita reports that she has found that she greatly enjoys being a librarian for the Baptist University of the Congo (UNIBAC) in Kikongo. While here in the States she has acquired some new library software and has been entering data for the library in Kikongo. Libraries are difficult to find in the Congo, so the UNIBAC library is an amazing resource for the students there!
Shawn, Dee, and Pari Collins - Daughter Pari has turned 15!
Ed and Miriam Noyes - Keep Ed and Miriam in your prayers.
Russell and Sharla Wiesner and Family - Back home in Malaysia, the Wiesners are immersed in the school and International Church activities. The school has started its semester with 38 students from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. One family of refugees from Syria have found special blessings in Malaysia, finding a place of safety, but are still challenged to find a living since their refugee status does not entitle them to work legally in the country! Sajid, a student from Pakistan, reports that he has been having dreams of someone speaking to him from the clouds, but he has not been able to see who is speaking. Pray that God will reveal Himself to Sajid, and that all of the staff at Cornerstone Learning Center will serve God well and love the people around them.
Jews For Jesus - Jaden Walker participated in "Halutzim" (see https://jewsforjesus.org/get-involved/serve/halutzim/) this July. It is a training program for young people that focuses on Service, Identity, Fellowship, and Fun & Travel. The team engaged in street ministry, handing out iced tea, and presenting a prayer board for peoples' requests.
Malachai Walker participated in "Massah" (see https://jewsforjesus.org/articles/?_sf_s=massah), a journey that took him to Israel and then to India, where he and the team encountered many young Israelis who were traveling and trekking through India, seeking diverse things and experiences. This involved some intense sessions discussing God with many different people, some seekers, some scoffers, and some indifferent.
