Thoughts From Pastor Sam
A Peculiar People
For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.
Psalm 135:4 (KJV)
In the Torah Exodus 19:5 God Calls Israel His own Peculiar People. In Romans chapter 11 Paul says that we as Christians are grafted into Israel and as it states in 1 Peter 2:9 we are also God’s “peculiar people”. What does it mean to be God’s “peculiar people”? Does it mean we are strange or weird, unique? Well, some of us are, however, the word “peculiar” in Hebrew is Segulah and it means “special treasure”. So God is calling all of us who have trusted in Jesus as our savior His “special treasures”. Isn’t it great to know that God sees us in this way? The enemy of our soul (the devil) will try to tell us that God doesn’t care and that we have no value, yet God clearly calls us His Treasure. So next time the devil or someone used by the devil calls you worthless or demeans you remind yourself and them that you are a treasure to God and that is more important than what anyone else thinks.
1 Peter 2:8-9 (KJV)
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
1 Peter 2:9

Awana begins this year on September 12. We are always looking for more volunteers, however, we are now in a good place to where we do not have to limit registration based on our volunteer ratio. We have enough help signed up so far to offer 100 spots for clubbers. Praise God!
We're excited to begin this new Awana year!
Candice Deppe, Director
Vacation Bible School: We had a very successful VBS this year led by Pam Wrobel. Our total enrollment of students was 57 plus volunteer staff of 38! What a wonderful ratio. There were 49 decisions to accept Christ. Our theme was "Time Lab" and was both fun and learning experience for our 1st - 6th-grade students. Pam Wrobel
Next Year the director will be Rebecca Milco.
Women’s Ministry Meeting: Any woman in the church who is interested in helping with women’s ministry is invited to join us on Tues. August 7 at 5:30 PM in the Prayer Room as we begin making plans for the coming year.
